Two Components of E-Learning Systems
There are two components of most e-Learning systems:
LCMS (Learner Content Management System): This is the authoring component of an e-Learning system. This is the LCMS enables the user to build the courses, lessons, and quizes. Multimedia files such as Flash, video and audio can be uploaded and presented. Some systems are very powerful and enable the user to create branches, buttons, links, and a variety of ways for the learner to interact.
LMS (Learner Management System): This is the administrative component. An LMS handles all of the administrative tasks of e-Learning programs such as registering learners, tracking learner performance, compiling and displaying learner transcripts, displaying course listings and availability, assigning learners to coaches or teachers, and others.
